What is a "CSC" or "Card Verfication Code"?
The Card Security Code (CSC) is a security feature for credit or debit card transactions, giving increased protection against credit card fraud. We ask for the CSC to help secure transactions over the Internet or over the phone.
MasterCard, Visa, and Discover credit and debit cards have a 3-digit code printed on the signature panel on the back of the cards immediately following the card's account number. New North American MasterCard and Visa cards feature the "CVC2" in a separate panel to the right of the signature strip.
American Express cards have a 4-digit code printed on the front side of the card above the number, referred to as the CID (or Unique Card Code). It is printed flat, not embossed like the card number.
Tables & Chairs
What is polyethylene and what advantages does it have over wooden or metal furniture?
Polyethylene is a high-density plastic that is virtually indestructible. It will not chip, crack, peel, or dent like other materials used for tables &chairs, such as wood, particleboard laminates, or metal. Lifetime's polyethylene plastic tables & chairs are durable, stain resistant, and weather resistant.
What is BIFMA?
BIFMA stands for Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturing Association. BIFMA sets industry standards for commercial grade furniture. Most Lifetime tables & chairs exceed all BIFMA standards.
What does "powder-coated steel" mean?
Lifetime Products uses a powder coating process on our table and chair frames, which coats the bare metal part with an electro-statically charged powder. The part is then baked at a high temperature. Powder coating is the most durable coloring process available on the market and aids in resistance to rust and weather damage, so Lifetime tables & chairs may be used outdoors as well as indoors.
What does "UV-protected" mean?
Lifetime tables & chairs are constructed with UV (ultra-violet) inhibitors to resist fading and cracking when exposed to the ultra violet rays of sunlight. This UV protection makes Lifetime tables & chairs appropriate for outdoor as well as indoor use.
How much weight can a Lifetime table hold?
Most Lifetime tables meet BIFMA standards for strength and durability. If a particular model meets BIFMA standards, it will be noted in the product features.
How do I remove the adhesive label on my Lifetime tables and chairs?
To remove adhesive labels without harming the finish on your table or chair, rub vegetable cooking oil into the label to soften the adhesive so that you can lift the label off of the product. After removing the label, use a cloth to wash away the excess oil with dish soap and warm water. If any sticky residue remains on the product, we suggest using a non-scratching pad, like Scotch Brite or Dobie, or a glue solvent such as Goo Gone.
Lawn & Garden
What is polyethylene and what advantages does it have over wooden or metal outdoor products?
Polyethylene is a high-density plastic that is virtually indestructible. It will not chip, crack, peel, or dent like other materials. Lifetime uses polyethylene in its outdoor storage sheds and other outdoor products because it is durable, weather resistant, and requires very low maintenance.
What does "UV-protected" mean?
Lifetime uses UV (ultra violet) inhibitors in its outdoor storage sheds and other outdoor products to resist fading, warping, and cracking when exposed to the ultra-violet rays of sunlight for a long period of time.
What does "powder-coated steel" mean?
Lifetime uses a powder coating process on its steel parts which coats the bare metal part with an electro-statically charged powder. The part is then baked at a high temperature. Powder coating is the most durable coloring process available on the market and aids in resistance to rust and weather damage from prolonged outdoor exposure.
What type of foundation is recommended for a Lifetime shed?
A Lifetime Shed must be built on a flat, level surface. We recommend a cement surface. Other options are a wooden platform or a wooden frame filled with pea gravel. Contact Customer Service for a list of materials and dimensions at +1 (800) 225-3865.
Basketball
What does "powder-coated steel" mean?
We use a powder coating process on our Lifetime basketball goals which coats the bare metal parts with an electro-statically charged powder. The parts are then baked at a high temperature. If I am unable to fit my bolt through the holes on my basketball backboard brackets, what should I do?
The bracket holes on Lifetime basketball backboards are sized to prevent excess play in those specific areas. Lifetime basketball backboards are coated with a very durable and heavy powder coating. If that coating has been applied too thickly around the bolt holes, you may experience difficulty with inserting the bolts through the bracket holes. If so, begin threading the bolt through the bracket hole, and then lightly tap the bolt into the bracket hole with a mallet or hammer.
Is the Tempered Glass playing surface on my backboard covered under warranty?
The tempered glass playing surface on Lifetime backboards is not covered under warranty.
While tempered glass has the advantage of providing the ultimate in rebounding performance, it is has the disadvantage of being breakable if struck with a projectile. Our tempered glass backboards are similar to a car windshield in that they are a very durable design for normal use, but if penetrated, will shatter. For this reason, we cannot warranty our tempered glass backboards because they are susceptible to vandalism.
Do I need to use antifreeze in the base of my Lifetime portable basketball system in the winter?
DO NOT put antifreeze in the base of your portable basketball system. The polyethylene plastic we use in the construction of the roller bases on our portable basketball systems allows for expansion when the water inside the base freezes. Antifreeze also poses a high risk to pets, so any leakage could be fatal to animals with access to the premises.
If I buy an inground basketball system, will I need to purchase additional supplies for installation?
For an inground basketball system, you will need to purchase concrete and one 1/2" x 3' piece of rebar (a steel rod used in the cementing process). Expect to wait 72 hours for the cement to dry completely before using the inground basketball system. We also recommend purchasing a Ground Sleeve which can be purchased from our line of Basketball accessories. A Ground Sleeve is a hollow steel cylinder cemented vertically into the ground for the pole to sit in. You will simply slip the pole into the Ground Sleeve, and a bolt or a tab will lock it into place. To remove the pole, you will just have to unlock the bolt or remove the tab and slide it out.
*Some city ordinances require the use of a Ground Sleeve when installing an inground basketball system.
Playground
What is UV-protected polyethylene plastic?
We use UV (ultra violet) inhibitors in the polyethylene plastic in our Lifetime playsets and playground equipment to resist fading and heat retention so that kids can play safely and comfortably. However, as an added caution, we do recommend that slides should face north if possible.
What does "powder-coated steel" mean?
We use a powder coating process on our Lifetime metal playsets which coats the bare metal parts with an electro-statically charged powder. These parts are then baked at a high temperature. Powder coating is the most durable coloring process available on the market and aids in resistance to rust and weather damage as well as reducing heat retention so that kids can play safely and comfortably. Unlike wooden playsets, our metal playsets will not warp, rot, or splinter and require no special maintenance treatments.
