Why spend money on expensive fertilizers when you can create your own composting and reduce landfill waste as well? With a Lifetime Composter you can easily reduce, reuse, and recycle kitchen and garden waste into a rich organic soil conditioner. Compost helps retain the moisture in your soil and adds rich nutrients for healthy plants. The Lifetime Composter is designed with black, double-walled panels to absorb and retain the heat that decomposes the material. An internal aeration bar allows the flow of oxygen that is necessary to break down the material into a rich, black organic fertilizer for your garden. The lightweight 80 gallon tumbler easily turns on its axis for balanced rotation—saving you the time and effort of turning a compost heap with a pitchfork! The non-cylindrical design of the tumblers allows for more effective mixing of contents when rotated. You’ll also appreciate the extra large removable lid for easy filling and dumping. This composter has many advantages over an open compost heap. It contains unsightly scraps and their accompanying odors in an enclosed container that is inaccessable to pesky rodents and will not attract insects. This product does not contain BPA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Composter Pros:"Quality construction","Large Door","Insulated interior" Best Uses:"Making Compost" Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. Assembly too about two hours, but the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I've used several tumbling composters in the past, this one is the best I've ever used. It's got a very large interior but a relatively small footprint. It turns easily and has a locking pin to keep it from rolling while you load and unload it. The first night the kids and I loaded it up and spun it a few times. Two days later on a very cool and rainy morning I was surprised to see steam rising from the Lifetime Composter. That's impressive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great compost tumbler !!!!!!!!! I received a compost tumbler for my birthday, being a 64 year old great grandmother it was a perfect gift. I opened the gift on a Monday when I was at home alone.... So I assembled it by my self on the patio. I had the few tools it required to put his little gift together....... It had two bolts I could not get by myself ,Holding the wrench inside and turning the nut outside, short arms I guess but that was the only part I didn't do myself. It would be easier with two people and the instructions say that. My com poster is at work. Instructions were easy to understand and I love my new gift . Thanks Lifetime !!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great construction for the cost! Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. It took 2 hours or about that to put together. I was happy all parts where in the box and we smoothly put the composter together. Reading ahead one step does help to understand the current step. I have started using it and it turns real smooth. Make sure you cut stems down to 1-2 inches for i feel it helps rotating around the center bar for air distribution. I have put a good mix it and plan to turn and check once a week! I find it worth it's cost and craftsmanship looks awesome! Looking forward to 1st production in late winter! 4-5 months expection. :-)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Suprise, Suprise Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friendI have been using Lifetime products for many years. When I got this unit home and unpacked it I found that there were no instructions in English! I had to print them off of Next, I found one of the bushings for the main shaft was missing from the parts bags. I had to get the bushing at the hardware store. Finally, the downloaded English instructions I got from were incomplete and I had to finish up by using a set of the foreign language instructions that came with the composter, and I only speak English. Now that I put it together, I think that it looks like a very nice piece of equipment.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great composter with a design flaw I wrote another review under Tytow, but I wanted to add something important about this composter. I liked the first one so much I bought another so I could have one loading while the other cooks. However, on both composters the "...internal bar mixes the compost and allows the flow of oxygen that is necessary to break down the material into a rich, black organic fertilizer for your garden." which is a PVC pipe with holes drilled in it, bent and fell out. I assume this was due to the interal heat and/or weight of material on the bar. I'm going to empty both composters and buy a metal bar and drill holes in it and see if that works. I hope they fix this flaw, because other than that, this really is an excellant composter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Composter, easy to assemble This is a great Compost bin. I shopped around and was considering building a framed wire mesh compost system and found the lifetime tumbler bin. I assembled it myself in just under 2 hours but the instructions say that 2 adults are needed. It would have been helpful, no doubt, but not neccessary. Instructions were clear and easy to read and the drawings were concise. I'm considering adding a couple of lawnmower wheels to one end of the base to make it more mobile. It's a great compost bin as I've added yard waste, grass clippings and a few veggie/fruit waste and it's maintaining 135-140 deg already. Considering buying a 2nd one for the other end of my garden and to keep the process moving along. Looking forward to some rich compost come next spring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nearly idiot proof instructions Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friendNearly idiot proof instructions. Really nice design. Came in a relatively small box considering how large the thing is assembled. After reading several reviews I decided to get a galvanized pipe instead of using the PVC that comes with it... I figured the predrilled holes for ventilation were just kind of random...they were not. The holes on each end at least need to be spaced correctly. The parts are designed to fit together very well and you do not have to worry if you have pieces backward or are drilling the wrong end etc. Very well done. [...] I have not actually made compost with it yet since I just put it together yesterday but I like it it is large and has a decent opening for adding and removing stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You CAN build it alone Pros:"Better than a roto-drum","Solid Construction","Good design for mixing" Best Uses:"Redwood tree debris","Grape pomace" Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. You CAN assemble it alone. The problem is those little screws at the bottom. With a Shop-Mate worktable, you can work underneath the drum. Pre-thread the little triangular nut with a screw in and out. Put the nut over the protruding screw, and weight it down with a brick. Slowly back out the screw, then screw it in again. You will feel it tighten.

My husband bought the 80 gallon composter but misplaced the bag of plastic caps that you screw onto the screws for this unit. Is it possible to get another bag? if so, how much would that cost for shipping to Ohio?
